RumbleMonkey was an early esports startup developing software that allowed users to compete in games like Hearthstone, Counter Strike, and Street Fighter IV for real money. We were scrappy but effective, raising around $4 million over the course of our run.
This was a trial by fire. As employee #3—and still pretty young at the time—I had to wear many hats. If a problem needed solving, our founder, Jacob Rapoport, knew he could throw it my way, and I'd come back with a solution. My responsibilities ranged from branding and advertising collateral to designing the e-commerce and web app, as well as rollout strategy.
I'm particularly proud of Dollar Kill Club, a prototype show-floor game I designed and developed for RumbleMonkey. It highlighted our platform's potential and showcased what a small, scrappy team could achieve if they partnered with us. DKC debuted at SXSW Gaming 2018 where pro esports players and con-goers competed for real money, and generated multiple positive articles for RumbleMonkey.
